An expanding digital signage strategy to communicate better in the Hyatt Regency hotel.

The Hyatt Regency San Francisco is a top destination hotel in the Embarcadero district. With 804 rooms, a prime location opposite famous attractions such as Chinatown and Fisherman’s Wharf and the world’s largest hotel lobby, it is a key hub for business meetings, casual meets and special trips. 

Create three initial separate digital signage displays across different areas of the hotel.

Find a system that could “mix and match” different types of media players and screens.

Find a simple content management system that would allow staff members to control the screens. 

Here, we speak to Victor Povzner, IT Director at Hyatt Regency San Francisco on his experience using ScreenCloud and digital signage. 

We began by looking for a digital signage solution that would allow us to create three separate digital signs. One for the sales office reception, one for our Regency Club host stand and one for the employee cafeteria. These would all be using different types of screens and media players (that we already owned), but the same software system which was ScreenCloud.

We initially began with LG screens, in 40” and 50” sizes and different players including the Amazon Fire TV Stick and the Chromecast. We found that the Amazon Fire TV Stick best suited our application as it is able to automatically restart after the power or screen is rebooted without us needing to do anything. 

For our content we used in-house Powerpoint presentations and external web links. The ability for us to find a software solution that could utilize both Powerpoint and web links was a big plus.

We found ScreenCloud through Google recommending the app for its Chrome OS devices and players. The simplicity with which we are able to manage multiple screens is a huge advantage within our hotel. We are now looking to grow our digital signage strategy and will be using ScreenCloud to create rotating restaurant menus in key public areas.
